We will be using two key systems during the workshop: Zoom Video Conferencing, and Google Docs. In order to make sure the systems work for everyone, we need you to test your technology, prior to the event.
Please do the following as soon as possible:
- Go to https://zoom.us/download and download the appropriate software for your machine. Please note, accessing the meeting using just your web browser, instead of the dedicated Zoom client, will not work for some of our activities. If you are unable to install new software on your work computer, you may like to use the various smartphone/tablet apps, which Zoom offers.
- Find a pair of headphones, which you will be comfortable wearing for the duration of the sessions (these will typically be broken into 90 minutes chunks, with breaks in between). Having headphones is important, because they significantly improve the quality of the sound for all participants. Please note, iPhone-style ear buds are perfectly good for our purposes.
- If possible, set up a video camera. This isn't essential, but people often find that being able to see their fellow participants adds to the overall experience.
- Finally, if you don't have an active Google account, please create one by going to https://accounts.google.com
