What would you like us to know about you?
Yoohwan Kim an Associate Professor of Computer Science at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and the director of the Cyber Physical Systems Security laboratory at UNLV. He received Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2003 and BA in Economics from Seoul National University in Korea in 1989. His research interest spans over various topics in Cybersecurity including, protection against DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks, critical infrastructure/SCADA/Smart Grid security, routing, security in wireless sensor and mesh networks, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) communication / software security and privacy issues, authentication schemes, e-commerce transaction security, security in crypto-currency and real-time embedded system software design. His research has been sponsored by Microsoft Research, US Air Force, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and National Security Technologies, US Navy, etc.
Before joining UNLV in 2004, he has been working in software and communication networking industry for several years. He was a Member of Technical Staff at Lucent Technologies/Bell Laboratories developing software for 3G wireless networks. He was also a co-founder of a technology start-up company in Holmdel, NJ, that developed an innovative method for delivering video advertising material over the Internet. Previously he worked as a management information systems consultant at Andersen Consulting. He has a number of certifications in cybersecurity including CISSP, CISA, CEH, CPT, and he is actively engaged in community education on cybersecurity.
