  • What would you like us to know about you?
Having completed college at Abilene Christian University, I entered medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. While in medical school, I spent two years in focused research on CT-PET imaging in radiotherapy as part of the Mentored Medical Student Clinical Research Program Award (M01-RR01346). After medical school, in 2006, I entered a NIBIB T32-supported (5T32EB000817-04) joint PhD-residency program in Human Imaging, combining a residency in Radiation Oncology, while simultaneously completing a PhD in the Graduate Division of Radiological Sciences. Using the European Association for Cancer Research Travel Fellowship, I worked at the Netherlands Cancer Institute to develop expertise in multimodality image human segmentation analysis. Supported by the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) product development grant and an NIH Clinical Research Loan Repayment Award (L30 CA136381-010), I co-developed a region of interest (ROI) analysis software to apply quantitative analysis of radiation oncology segmentation. I was awarded a PhD in Radiological Sciences and finished my clinical residency training in Radiation Oncology, serving as Chief Resident my final year, in 2011. I then accepted a position as tenure-track faculty at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Radiation Oncology Head and Neck Section. After completing ABR board certification in Radiation Oncology, I sought to improve my expertise in imaging and clinical radiotherapy informatics and thus, as a currently supported trainee in the MD Anderson Paul Calabresi Clinical Physician Scientist Award (5K12CA088084-12), I completed ABPM subspecialty board certification in Clinical Informatics. Using this unique imaging/informatics/radiotherapy skillset, I head our Department's efforts at developing functional tumor/tissue imaging approaches as Associate Director of MRI Programmatic Development, spearheading efforts at advanced image-guided radiotherapy.
