What would you like us to know about you?
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. I received my Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in Counseling and Sport Psychology from Boston University. My research interest is in optimizing physical activity interventions to maximize intervention effectiveness. My work in this area has focused on two areas. The first area is in identifying individuals most likely to respond to a given intervention. My primary focus in this area has been evaluating heterogeneity in treatment response to exercise in persons with depression. Through this research, I have identified several characteristics that predict response to exercise, including both clinical and biological factors. The second focus of my research is in optimizing the intervention itself. One of my current projects utilizes Multiphase Optimization Strategy to concurrently evaluate four evidence-based interventions to increase physical activity in breast cancer survivors.
