    Dr. John Lehrter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of South Alabama (USA) and a Senior Marine Scientist at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL). Prior to joining USA/DISL in 2016, he was a Research Ecologist for 12 years with the EPA Office of Research and Development, Gulf Ecology Division. Dr. Lehrter received his PhD from the University of Alabama where he studied nutrient and carbon cycling processes in linked coastal watershed and estuarine systems in the northern Gulf of Mexico. His current research interests focus on understanding how anthropogenic changes impact watershed and estuarine nutrients, eutrophication, hypoxia, and acidification based on a diverse set of field, satellite, and numerical modeling methods.
