Hanadi Rifai is John and Rebecca Moores Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Houston (UH). She is Director of the Hurricane Resilience Research Institute (HuRRI) focused on mitigation, assessment, prediction, protection, education and recovery from severe storms and hurricanes. Dr. Rifai teaches courses in hydrology, groundwater contaminant fate and transport, risk assessment, and geographic information systems. Her research program is focused on modeling the fate and transport of pollutants in the environment. Over the past decade, she has focused on simulating hazards, vulnerabilities and risks associated with severe storms and hurricanes for coastal and inland environments especially those related to industrial activities and from environmental infrastructure.
