  Dr. Donna Marie Bilkovic is a research associate professor of marine ecology at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William & Mary. Her research interests are in estuarine fish and invertebrate ecology, particularly habitat use, habitat connectivity, community ecology, and responses to habitat restoration. She is currently engaged in several multi-disciplinary collaborations related to Coasts and People. Elements of this work are focused on improving our understanding of social-ecological feedbacks that erode or strengthen coastal habitat resilience, and quantifying the ecological functions of nature-based approaches for shoreline protection (living shorelines), along with their capacity to act as estuarine habitat conservation strategies.
