What would you like us to know about you?
I lead work at the University of Manchester on the development and evaluation of imaging biomarkers for breast cancer risk, and the science underpinning stratified screening. My research encompasses a range of technologies including Computer Aided Detection, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, electrical impedance, low dose X-ray imaging and Breast Parenchymal Enhancement in MRI. Two of my PhD students and one postdoc are currently working on AI applications. Whilst most of my activity is centred around breast cancer I also have an interest in visual search (eye tracking), lung screening and digital pathology, and have established clinical links in all areas. A mathematician and physicist by training, I started out in astronomy , and at one point applied to be an astronaut.
